Fiat 500e - Electric

Fiat has also announced the electric version of their 500; called the 500e. It has a 24kWh pack, and about an 80 mile (EPA) range, but you could see 100 miles or more. The motor is 83kW (111HP and 147ft/lbs torque), and it has a decent looking Kammback and a smaller front grill than the ICE version, it appears. The wheel (covers?) look to be fairly low drag, too.

2013 Fiat 500e looks loud, runs quietly

This car slots in between the Smart Electric Drive (2 seats) and the Spark EV (4 seats) with a 2+2; since the rear seat is really small and probably only suited for kids.

No word on price as of yet; but hopefully it is close to the $25,000 Smart Electric Drive.

Actually, I think the airdam is not on some of the other 500s and the grillblock is a little like a scoop, probably keeping more air from going under the vehicle than the more typical 500. More stuff to consider imitating.

Too much ugly. Can't stand those thing.

I'd drive it, but I wouldn't buy it.

In my book, it's a candidate for a bike motor swap to go fast and/or do stupid things, much like the Smart.

Their choice of HEMI-orange paint is interesting...if you're an ex-Mopar person.

I help former chrysler dealers liquidate their collection of Miller tools and manuals. Man, back in the day when an engine weights as much as todays cars.

FYI, one shop had manuals from 1958. What an interesting read.

Those were the days my friend, we thought they'd never end....

I do like the Fiat, although it is a bit too "designy" for my taste. The original 1957 version designed by Dante Giacosa was all about making the car as low cost as possible, for example they had very little loss of material during production due to the design of the doors, panels etc. The roof was folding not to look fancy but to save on steel...It was the epitome of frugality!

The "official" EPA range for the 500e is 87 miles, which is pretty darn good.

2013 Fiat 500e gets 116 MPGe (combined) and 87-mile range

yea, this car's ok. I'm getting tired of not having an EV.

where do I sign I'll take one in retro green white trim and interior. My first car was a fiat 500 1960 it was missing a connecting rod when I bought age 11, we couldn't find the parts for it or the guys in the fiat shop wouldn;t take us seriously, anyways, all we did was make broom broom noises, then it was used as a make out spot next to the shed, until years later dad sold it to some guy who wanted to make a trailer. sad story cause the body was in real good nick.
