Finally
Looks like this winters cold spell ends today. Last year I rode the bike (GZ250) close to 500 miles from December to March. This winter it was 171 miles. A few years ago I rode a CBR250R 850 miles in January alone.
Tank to tank mileage in Sinatra should be climbing up also. A couple of weeks ago the wife says, why don't we buy a house in Florida? Closing in on 65, a warmer climate sounds good. I lived in the Florida Keys a couple of years in the early 1980s, I'd probably get tired of the heat fairly soon. LOL, maybe Myrtle Beach. regards mech |

Wouldn't recommend riding here. |
Right there with you Mech, mid 50s expected this week will be a welcomed change.

Finally, nice weather here in B'ham too. Fla does sound nice from Nov to Mar, but too hot after then. Time to buy is right after a hurricane.

I thoroughly enjoyed visiting the Keys and had my best scuba diving experience exploring the Vandenberg wreck, but you couldn't pay me enough money to live in a humid flat environment. Just as vivid in my memory is sweating my face off in blue jeans and a tee shirt in October, at midnight, in Orlando.
As much as I want to dislike Hawaii, Kauai weather seemed tolerable despite the high humidity and frequent rain, not to mention was among the most beautiful places I have seen. I'd move there if you want to pay nothing for heating and air conditioning. I'm amazed by the low cost of living in Oklahoma. I have property in Enid that rents for $400/month including garbage and water service. Once I had a steak dinner at a restaurant and the bill was $8. It would have been twice that here in PDX where 80% of everything is local, organic, sustainable, $$$. I miss winters. We didn't get one this year and I'm afraid my snow driving skills will deteriorate from non-use. The only other place I could see living is Colorado or Montana. Give me 4 seasons so that I don't take any of them for granted. |
I was out on my CB550 today in Montana at 56 degrees. Took the liner out of the jacket, had it up to 60 mph, it was really nice. The problem here is the roads are full of gravel and sand from winter in many places, actually still some icy spots in the shady canyons. Still just test and tune on the back road by my house because I don't have plates. The new title came today so that should be solved on Friday. Also drove my Son-in-laws Honda VF770S Sabre, that thing definitely has more poop even though it weighs more and only has 150 more CCs.
Going to check and adjust the valves if needed tomorrow. I have never done that, but then again I have never done any many projects I have been plugging away at over the last month on both of these Hondas. I think I'm hooked, I'm checking craigslist every day for another one now LOL! |
I've missed a lot of opportunities to ride Lafawnda (my Honda) this mild winter. I promised myself that I wouldn't take her out until I adjusted the valves and put new tires on. The valve adjustment requires cam removal, and I've never gone that deep into an engine before. I'm just procrastinating from the inevitable PITA it's going to be. I once spent 3 hours replacing the cam chain tensioner, which is only held on by 2 visible bolts. I think the tool I made involved masking tape, magnets, swivels, extensions, and the socket and wrench.
Good luck with those valves! |
