Round-trip for the day was a less-impressive 82 MPG.

I never got near that in any of my Insights, nice work!

Speeds varied with terrain. As slow as 30 MPH up some hills, and about 55 MPH the few times I could do it without dropping below 100 MPG instantaneous. I was probably going about 45 MPH on flat stretches. It was warm, but not hot out. And it was breezy, which probably didn't help. I once got 97 MPG on roughly the same trip with a working IMA, so I'm pleased to see that I don't need the battery!

Is fixing the IMA, and enabling you to achieve or even improve such mileages at a wider range of speeds whenever you want or eventually need it, not worth at all? Is downsizing the battery out of question too?

It might be some benefit in the city, but I don't think the IMA is very beneficial on the highway. It adds a nice bump in low-end torque, but I can live without that. And it's about $2,000 to replace the battery. I could build one good battery using the best cells from my other batteries, but I don't know how long it would last. I'd rather just never deal with it again. There isn't much downsizing to do, it's only a 6.5 Ah battery. I never liked the inconsistent behavior of the Honda hybrid system either.

Being familiar with cars presumably more "underpowered" since my childhood, I can relate to that :turtle:

I always liked how the Insight looks. I now like it more!
