Finally broke 30 MPG in the truck!

I have no idea how I did it, but my last tank of gas on the Chevy S10 was over 30 MPG!

I think I have been doing more engine off while coasting downhill and turning off the engine at stop lights. I am sure the temperatures have a lot to do with it as well.

I thought I was going to have to lower the truck or make a belly pan or something before I would break 30.

I guess I really have slowed down a bit on the freeways too. I pretty much never go over 55 anymore!

W00T! Very nice indeed. Great job.

Nice job, beat the broken crx, :p

Good job. I had a 98 S-10, reg cab, 4 cyl 5 spd, all that jazz. Got about 29 mpg, dropped it 2" and got right at 30 mpg. Put wider tires and heavy steel wheels on it and got 28 mpg :(.

Great work, congrats! These compact trucks seem to do pretty well at the hypermiling game. I just filled up Josie this morning and nearly spat out my teeth when I did the math:
37.58mpg!

That nearly matches my best ever, and that time I had over 300 miles of slow steady cruising to work in - this was commuting.

It almost makes me wonder what I can really achieve if I do all the other alteration type stuff...

Wow - two impressive tanks. Congrats, guys! Skool the pickup crowd!

That's pretty nice for a truck, congrats.

And I thought 29 out of my Ranger was good. I don't think I could drive 55 in this truck the DOHC has to have some rev's to get any torque.

Curious but If you're driving 55 what do you need a lot of torque for?

Holy Damn! I drive a 98 Blazer, with the 4.3, and i think i just got the worst tank in my life out of it.... I don't know what your doing but your doing good at it.

Holy thread bump batman!
I bet he had the 2.2, the s10 I had with the 2.2 was reasonable on gas. Best I ever got was 33mpg over 1000 miles of rural highway in eastern Oregon. And that was with a fully loaded, uncovered bed traversing mountain passes!
