I think I tripped the passive alarm the other day. She was covered in dew, so I opened the door, reached in and tried to start her, and she did nothing. A bit puzzled, I sat down and tried again, and she fired right up. I had my foot on the brake the second time.
So either she wont start without he brake bring pressed, or else the combination of the door being open and the brake not being pressed does it. (I'll have to experiment)

Is it OEM??
My winter beater Metro came with a remote starter/immobilizer.
I was sometimes getting odd no-crank conditions, so I yanked it all out!
Haven't had any problems since. |

No sir. It's after-market poop. The only up side is it's marked on my insurance and might be saving me a couple of cents a year. Well, that and a pretty red flashing LED to scare off would-be-thieves.

Parts came in. Went to put the new brake rotors in and service the pads - they were Raybestos and had about half the pad left - but hit a snag...
The friction material was no longer attached! Had to run out and buy pads locally; so much for trying to save a few bucks.
Together again:
Trying Wagner brand of rotors. Interested to see how they hold out. On the surface, they seem pretty decent...
No more brake pulse. Quiet and smooth stops now.
And put on "new" shoes for the season:
Of course that couldn't go smooth either. Now she pulls to one side...I'll try swapping the tires around and see if that clears it up. Interested to see how much quieter it is without winter tires. Fingers crossed! |

Yup, it’s the front tires. I flipped them, now it pulls the other way. I’ll give it a week, and if it doesn’t wear itself back to normal, I’ll flip them to the rear.

I hadn't registered the cat. Or the cheap carpet. (I can call it cheap because I put some down in one room here at my place...it was the cheapest interior carpet I could get my hands on!)

32.86mpg, just a hair shy of EPA combined rating. Better than first fill up with the KMs done by the previous owner. Only things changed are the maintenance work and the difference in my driving style vs the PO.
Hopefully it will continue to improve as the weather does.
