FINALLY got me a CRX
1 Attachment(s)
O.o! I'm excited
If anyone knows me on here, you know I'm a CRX psycho... Most people envy for Skylines and Lamborghini'... My dream car is a mint condition 1991 CRX Si Although this one is not 1991, nor even close to mint condition.... She is close enough to tickle my fancy :p Traded my 1997 Accord LX for a 1997 Civic EX to a 1988 CRX Si in the past 2 months. Sounds a little crazy to most to trade a 97 with power everything for a 1988 Rex with power nothing :D but I'm sure if any community gets it, its you guys. http://ecomodder.com/forum/attachmen...1&d=1316117770 |
Nice. I definitely prefer power nothing to power everything. That CRX looks just like one that parks down the street, right down to the grotesque Altezza style taillights. I hope that's the first mod- to get stock turn signals and taillights.

She's beautiful! And a red two door coupe! *wink* *wink* *cough* team *cough* *wink* *wink*
When you find something you like you should of course go for it, i myself traded from a 3 year newer car when i got princess. |

And yeah Im not a fan of the chrome tails either, Im sure they would sale fast on CL for stock but there is a piece knocked out :o Im sure there is a ricer somewhere in my area willing to take a em for stock though Quote:
Delivered all day today, so 100% city and got 27.46 MPG, its rated for 25 city. Not to bad for feeling the car out and the loss of my precious ScanGaugeII |

Yeah, power nothing ROCKS! CarloSW2 |
Congrats on the CRX! How many miles are on it?
|
Nice find! The 88 CRX Si is the lightest of the Si CRX models, you have pillar mounted seat belts instead of the door mounted ones, and you have the Passive Rear Steering lower control arms in the rear!

----------- * Today my and my wife cleaned the crap out of the crx, like 2 hours of solid cleaning, She cleaned up BEAUTIFULLY! Amazing transformation.... it still boggles my mind how all the cars I get are completely trashed when I get them... Does no one take care of their cars anymore? I turned 6 new white cleaning rags to black, haha **The only problem Im having with the car right now is a short shifter was installed on it and there is absolutely no feedback on it, it kinda just wiggles around freely, unlike my civic that you could feel and if you put it in neutral it always returned straight to the middle. This one just dangles almost... If your in 5th you can push it down slightly and it will go into the middle (like neutral) position and still be in 5th..Weird... Anyone got any ideas? |
Bump on the shifter problem?
|
You should have more feedback with the shortened shifter. Sounds like the bushings that surround the shifter are shot or possibly the universal joint is very loose. There is a really cool universal joint product here:

Have a friend hold the transfer rod while you move the shifter, it should quickly become obvious where the problem is.

Took the car to the shop today because it was sputtering, smoking, and overheating and they said the head gasket was bad, $770 to replace the gasket, get the top half of the engine re-machined (straighten it up and test for compression) and to replace a bunch of other crap I can't even remember.... Guess I had a fast one pulled over me, o well... My fault I suppose.
|
That really subjects spheres to unbalanced pressure!
Did you take the deal or are you considering other options? (like engine swaps) |
Even with the repair you won't be into the car that deep. It's worth the investment to have it done with machining. I hope they would freshen up the head while it's off. A fresh valve job will ensure that you get maximum mpgs and will keep oil consumption down.
My motto is "the cheapest car is the one you own". Nothing sucks more than car payments in my opinion. |

The engine swap was jdm spec, $1900 for the engine with 50k miles on it plus another $600 to put in... I would have loved to get it on the car but I just dont have the money right now |
*Just an update on my CRX*
So I see its been a month since I wrote the stuff about the head gasket blowing.... -I went ahead and told them to fix it. It ended up being $916 (+$50) -Luckily I feel like it was defiantly worth it because it brought back a ton of life into my little D16A6 -I replaced ever gasket, got the head machined flat and tested for compression, new thermostat and gasket, new head bolts, new pvc valve, coolant flush, oil change with filter, new timing belt, new spark plugs and some used radiator fans since mine were dead. -After I got the car back iv also replaced the distributor cap and rotor and fixed some other small things like all new wipers and such. Been getting great gas mileage out of this thing but my speedo cable broke so I haven't been able to record any of it... I do however have a ton of room to get even better MPG out of this thing. I need a new o2 sensor cuz mine is burnt out and I'm hopefully getting rid of the cannon on the back for stock exhaust soon. I also have a bad ELD but I haven't quite figured out how replacing that works.... As soon as all that gets fixed ill be either fixing my speedo cable or getting me a nice boost/vacuum gauge so I can start making my car sip-sip-sip gas |
