First gen Insight engine in a Civic?

Does anyone know if the First Gen Insight ICE can be mounted readily in a sixth gen Civic, can the ICE's manual transmission bolt onto a D-series Civic engine? The ICE only produces like 67hp on its own. Can it even be installed and run without the IMA? I'm most interested in the transmission, having seen a citation for a fifth gear .710 and an final drive of 3.21 ... anyone know. My bet is the answers are mostly no, but that's just guessing.

Don't. If you want a small engine try deactivating two cylinders in your civic first. If you want a 3.2 final try a vx or hx civic. or HF CRX 2.95:1.

Do you mean "don't" as in there is no compatibility or "don't" in the sense of telling me not to do it? I'm not seriously proposing doing it, but I am curious about whether any part of a swap is possible without major customizing of mounts and such. Does anyone else know the answers as to compatibility?

it wont just slip in , I am sure custom mounts and drive shafts are needed as well as custom wiring, ECU setup and exhaust.

How about an old 1.3l but it will probably be carbed

It spins the wrong direction, the civic engine is on the drivers side of the car the insight engine is on the passenger side of the car.

I hear that the insight drive train will bolt right in to a Honda Fit tho, but I've never seen it done.

Even if you can get it swapped, there's no guarantee it'll get better mileage. A heavier and less aerodynamic car could end up working it so hard that you won't see any gains.

You'll probably have trouble keeping posted speeds with the 3cyl and will have to down shifting one or two gears on every overpass.
