First Images of Hydrogen Burning in ICE

You can run them on peanuts and whale, too :p

Crazy small world...I went to college with one of the "mechanical engineers" referenced in the article. He was on the student design team that built a hydrogen fuel cell powered Suburban for a DOE competition. Smart guy...hope his projects turn out well.

So, if they ever solve the problems of hydrogen being expensive, bulky, leak-prone, and a potent greenhouse gas, they can sell more of it and avoid re-tooling on the engine line. I'd be ashamed to take money for that kind of research, especially with the spin around it.

This crazy Scotsman on an outer island of NZ was running his 60's vauxhall on wood.
Took a while to prepare for a journey. Looked like the inventor/professor guy from back to the future too. Stop in a forested area to refuel. |
Stop in a forested area, and make small pieces of wood of uniform size, shape, and moisture content, (below 15%) to refuel, or rebuild the engine when you get home. Gasifiers are a Big subject. In WW II, they typically got 5,000 miles between teardowns for cleaning the tar out. The cyclone trap can improve that, but not enough to run on scrap.
