First Tank MPG results!
So, I finally got my o2 sensor for the vx, and decided to take a trip to pick up a few parts so I could see what type of mileage it would get. The trip was 90% hwy at 65-70 mph most of the time. I hooked up my voltmeter so that I could monitor lean burn and took off. I didn't use any special driving habits except for keeping it in lean burn for almost the entire trip (probably only kicked out for 3 total miles).
I figured with us still having winter gas, and me not employing and driving changes other than slowing down a tiny bit I would probably end up at around 45mpg, boy was I wrong. I just filled up and the end result is... 53.44 mpg:D I drove 398 miles and it took 7.447 gallons to fill up. I filled up before I took off and filled the tank to where I could see the fuel in the neck (to the top), and filled it to the same spot when I re-fueled. I know I have to take an average to see where I really am mpg wise, but I am pretty impressed at this mpg. Just thought I would let you know:thumbup: |
Awesome. Glad to see that fix did it.

Yes I am!!! I never would have thought with all the arguments/confusion about o2 sensors that it would have been that easy or cheap to get one that works.
I have a few questions: 1. My car is a passenger mirror delete model. How much effect (mpg wise) will adding a mirror to my car make? 2. Is it worthwhile for me to build bumper opening block plates? If so how much effect does this normally have? I am just asking b/c I will be painting this car in a few weeks and would like to do everything at once. |
Congrats on some serious success there Cole. I saw somewhere on here the pass. mirror was making a 1.5mpg difference on somebody's car tests. I tossed my pass. mirror months ago but it was in with a bunch of other mods/repairs so no data on improvements here. I found a foldaway drivers' mirror at the junkyard and swapped it into mine, and keep it folded back all the time for that lil extra aero (makes me happy). I just added a grill block on my DX and I don't have any data there either. My last tank was up, but I also did some other mods.
