Seriously, your local NAPA or Carquest should have some in stock or if not can order them for you. Should cost lest than $2 ea. Probably cheaper if they're in stock. Local tire specialty stores (eg Goodyear) should also carry them.

My coroplast covers, with a little cutout for the stems. They stick out less than 1/4 inch. They're still nearly flush, but I can fit a gauge and/or pump in there.

Just a note: I bought a set of inexpensive "universal" plastic valve stem extensions, and 2 tires went flat overnight after screwing them on.

So now I do what Neil reccomends: I just screw one on to check/adjust pressure.
