Finally a NEV that does not look like a golf cart.

Agreed.
BUT - the problem is it's a shameless, unadulterated rip-off of the last-gen Daimler smart car, and it's not produced under licence. Daimler has sued the Chinese producer, but I'm not sure whether that has been resolved yet. It's a common theme: Anyone familiar with the "traditional" golf cart style NEV will recognize this GEM vehicle: http://www.evworld.com/images/tmc_gemknockoff.jpg Except it's not a GEM! According to EV World, "It is, in fact, a EV-Gle2-2T manufactured by TMC Machinery in Suzhou, China.... and not under license." Here's an actual GEM: http://www.gemcar.com/uploads/models...d-homepage.jpg |
Laz: sorry for the threadjacking...:o

Seriously, you're in the market?
What about the Kurrent or ZENN - still too golf-cartish? |

It can do 40 mph. Price is still to high for a bottom feeder like me. The killer on the NEV is the top speed of 25-35 MPH. Maybe make the move in a year or so. See how the technology pans out and prices. There's a dealer in town if the weather nice tomorrow I thinking of riding over there and see what they have to offer on info.:turtle: |
Roll your own? For half the price of a Xebra (or depending on how you want to look at it, 5x or 6x the price of the ForkenSwift), you could build a decent mid-speed EV with acceptable performance.
