Ford Aveo computer change Rpm shift?
My 2001 Nissan Sentra got 32 mpg around town. It died.
My 2007 Aveo is getting 24-26. I am sure it is the lousy high shifting. I would shift my Sentra @ 18-20K rpm. Every gear on this ford is high. The highest limit in my drive is 40 mph. This dang Thing shifts@ 33Rpm@ 45 mph. The questions: can U take it somewhere and ask them to shift this thing lower? It drives me crazy pul|ing out slow and this thing reving so high and there is nothing I can do. What should I do, go faster so it will just shift? Tapping the gas can help it shift, but I don't really understand how to do it accurately... frustrated... wally |
Hi Wally -
Have you tried briefly lifting off the pedal to induce a shift? That works on some automatics that shift based on load/pressure. |
hmmmm...i dunno. I will see what I actually do.
There isn't a set way to shift it though is there? I couldn't tic off a mark @ given mph OR rpm because depending what kind of incline or how much I am pushing on the accel will change everytime, yes? |
It scares me to twice see references here to the Aveo as a Ford.

looking for my epa, i was looking for the aveo....under Ford. of course I just didnt say that in the msg, i say it in the TITLE
None of our u.s. makers make enough of an impression for me to actually tell them apart anyway. And thank you for everyone not reaming me on this. |
