Forklift motors
Anyone knows of a guide on how to identify a Series Wound motor?
Thinking of my "low budget" project, but I have no idea if I will be able to find one of those motors in Portugal. What motor am I looking for ? From what I read I could choose one between 36v and 72v operation, "heavy", and... what else should I look for ? :) |
well, the field coils will have to be made of pretty thick wire for a series motor, that might be a clue.

Fwiw, longer motors typically have more torque.

Thanks for the feedback. In the meanwhile I found this thread in another forum :
Using a forklift motor, and choosing a good one - DIY Electric Car Forums which made me even more confuse, to be honest.. trying to read it slowly |
Still wondering if a pancake-type EV motor wouldn't be enough for a 710Kg Fiat Panda. Most people use them in motorcycles, tho. I'll research more, I guess. If you have more good tips keep them coming :)

SepEx motors tend to have their 2nd set of electrical connectors smaller, where series wound motors the studs tend to be the same large size.
