Fossil Fuel Free Ferrari

CNBC: Markets: ‘The market has spoken’: Ferrari shares fall after carmaker unveils first fully electric vehicle

What do you think?

I see the front wing of the electric Dodge Charger and the front wheel well ducts of the electric van prototype I can't remember the name of (not the Xbus). Yellow brake calipers just like my Superbeetle.

Maybe the stock fell because it's not red?

Yeah, worst color choice ever.

There's no reason supercars have gasoline engines since nobody is road tripping in them.

EV is the present of supercars.

I think the Ferrari nameplate is dead weight. They're following Jaguar down and to the right.

Otherwise I like it. The way the cabin tapers into a Gurney flap that follows a fender crease, the loft line from the stagnation point to the windshield header, the cutouts in the corners of the front and rear fascia, five-spoke wheels, etc.

So here it is in red:

Did you see and hear about this travesty that Ferrari will regret for decades, until (or IF) it's ever forgotten? Ferrari stock instantly DIVED 10%. 600k electric car that looks terrible. Utterly unlike anything Ferrari ever made, because Ferrari never made anything this ugly before

Although it looks more like VW Koral Rot than Ferrari red. I don't get the hate, but then I never cared much for Ferrari anyway.

Those wheels, tho....

Okay, this is a fail. Despite the swoopy front end, the drag coefficient is 0.254.

That's an incredibly good Cd for a supercar, and probably why everyone thinks it looks terrible.

I will say it's a failure in that I couldn't tell you what brand that was unless the logo was plastered to it. When I see a Porsche, I'm not looking for a decal to tell me it's a Porsche.

Ferrari has a racing pedigree, so it's still relevant. Just because they have a flop doesn't mean they're doomed.

... and I don't necessarily predict a flop. Ferrari is a low volume manufacturer, so they don't need to sell many to make a profit. What is the rival EV supercar that will steal away that small but existent market segment?

Now the wealthy have a way to virtue signal AND brag.

The interior design was outsourced. Also the exterior design was outsourced. Also the drivetrain was outsourced. This car is probably a good car. It likely exists only because Ferrari needs carbon credits or average fuel economy or some other reason that basically gave them no motivation to actually want to learn how to design and build what this car is.

Okay by me; I never thought much of Ferrari to start, so I judge the car on it's merits.

The merits are not good. The Model S Plaid came out in 2021-

I refer back to my comment about filling the niche of virtue signaling AND displaying elite status.

*To be clear, I don't begrudge anyone who wants to virtue signal and advertise elite status. People like the things they like. Heck, some people like Harley motorcycles.

The merits are skewed (screwed?) by the price point. It would be an Okay $64K car. I'd still prefer an EV Superbeetle converted to a station wagon.
