Found a 2011 Nissan Leaf for $5,900

A typical day here has around 10% humidity.
I will probably fill my car with ethanol free gas at least some times. Her car I probably out 6 gallons a week in it.
My firebird gets anywhere from 4 to 12 gallons once every 2 to 3 weeks. And lately it's been on the lower end, less often of that range.

In 6 weeks we have racked up nearly 1,700 miles.
Saving around 85 gallons of gas or about $230.

I drive my leaf a lot if you consider 1,100 miles per month.
That includes the 2 weeks when I was stuck with 120v only charging.
Probably ran the power bill up maybe around $20.
But power here is cheap.

I haven't spoken to her about the car's fate. It could be that she and her boyfriend are looking into replacement batteries, or it could be that she's saving up the cash. What I'm certain of is that she was sold a Leaf with a nearly fully depleted battery pack.

I know and Nissan knows that most people don't have $5500 sitting around. That is why they provide financing for replacement battery packs.

Used cars have always been a buyer beware situation. The display in the Leaf will tell you if the battery pack is dead or degraded.

Gas savings minus the cost of electronic I'm saving about $150 per month if gas prices don't go up.
Hahaha, if. As if.
My estimated savings was between $100 and $200 per month.
The first month the car just barely paid for tags, title, tax and 2 year NM registration.
To renew the registration in 2 years will cost a fraction of the initial titling and registration. Title and tax was 3/4 the cost.
Putting the pay back time (shipping included) to around 4 or 5 years.

Update on my neighbor. Apparently her first Leaf was in an accident, so she got another one. The second one won't hold a big enough charge to allow her to use it for anything beyond 30 miles! So it pretty much sits in her driveway. Maybe she's just unlucky but I suspect that she's been the victim of unscrupulous salesfolk.

Yeah I was pretty specific on finding one for me that's had the battery replaced.

WDB, I don't know where on the perimeter you and your neighbor lady live, but, she might could use some assistance concerning the battery. If you decide to offer a little assistance, you/her could purchase a decent used one and sell the one she has for home battery use. It still has value for that and would recoup maybe half of the cost of a better one. Some Salvage yards provide the year and odometer readings. Try to find one that offers the info and get it in writing, so when it is installed, you can get a direct reading from the car.

Changing them out may be more than you want to offer, but, it sure is a shame for her to not have a decently functioning car. IF you are not familiar, go to car-part.com and do a search for whatever year below 2016 Leaf and get an idea what one would cost.
