Found a lightweight trailer for a boat tail

Just leave off the boat winch and pads, and build your tapered box on the frame. Wheel bearings are designed for highway speeds.

Why not in the Aerodynamics subforum?

Anything with tapered cone bearings is going to go at highway speeds.

No need to spend $900 unless you need a galvanized trailer with a boat winch.

Harbor freight trailer is probably your best bet. It's not aluminum, but it's still lightweight and 1/3 the price.

You really don't want aluminum.
Limited fatigue life and difficult to weld.
I weld aluminum so I know.

Highway rated axle bearings?

I dunno what they're rated for but I drove 3000 miles over a period of 3 days with one, with around 1000lbs in the trailer. It's still kicking around 5 years later.

So I can pay for two registrations to drive one vehicle? How long is that payback? No thanks.

Wouldn't be a problem if you lived in KY, no trailer registration. Not sure about other states.
