Friendly reminder about searching EM

Many questions that get asked on EM have been answered before, sometimes by experienced people no longer active here (no offense to those of us who are active). Search the site using the google dialog box to the upper left under the links for "home" and "forum" ...

Can save you time, give you good info, and set up better, sharper questions.

If rising gas prices start to drive regular new people to the forum to the extent they did last time prices spiked, we're going to be answering a LOT of similar questions.

I remember almost writing up a "top 10" questions/answers post back then for the noobs.

A top ten not only sounds like something that should be a sticky, but a pop-up should advertise it when someone tries to create a new thread.

California, you are saying that we should revive a dead thread instead of starting over? It seems like people complain either way.

I don't mind at all when people resurrect old threads to add new info.

I've never understood why people get so upset about that.

I think that resurrecting old threads is not a problem, but it is meant as prevention from having a zillion of "hey, I just registered, so give me all your help so I do not need to do anything" threads.
... Although I must admit that AFAIK there are very few of them now. Considerably less than on similarly populated forums elsewhere. Either you - mods - do an excellent job, or the ecomodder forum has attracted different breed of creatures than rest of the internet.

Revive and old thread, start a new one, drop in on an active one... all good to me... even ask a question without searching EM first... I'm okay with that too. I just thought it might be useful to remember the search function. We learn. We ask better questions.

I do feel that people are nicer and more helpful here than elsewhere on the Internet. People even generally put up with me! :)
