FS: 48 volt Geo Metro ... the ForkenSwift ... $700 ... eastern Ontario
http://ecomodder.com/forum/attachmen...1&d=1401737309
(Car may not be exactly as shown... rockers are shot, and it's not quite this shiny at the moment...) OK, I guess I'm getting serious about this now. Here's my dedicated "for sale" post... ForkenSwift is up for grabs! This is primarily due to extensive underbody rust, brake failure (probably a line... I didn't even bother to confirm), and generally too many projects crowding it off the "to-do" list. It was a really fun project and a useful vehicle as a low/medium speed EV runabout. (It was always my first choice to drive if I had to use a 4-wheeled conveyance within its range.) Full details/specifications are at: Electric car conversion on a beer budget - ForkenSwift.com Everything's included: charger, worn out batteries, EV grin, the works! Car is in working condition, however "rough around the edges" is probably a generous overall description. My buddy and I put a grand total of about ~$1400 in the project, but THIS WEEK ONLY, WE'RE HAVING A 50% OFF SALE! That's right, yours for just $700! If you know of a solid Metro/Firefly/Swift, you could have it back on the road in a weekend. You can come get just the EV bits, or borrow the tow bar and drag it to your destination. But I will be removing various non-EV parts & body panels from the car to keep as spares for another vehicle. It will be stripped/hacked but will still roll. I already have someone interested in the motor, but would prefer to sell the whole thing before the end of June. This is your chance to own a small, blue, rusty piece of DIY EV history! Here's another misleading photo: http://forkenswift.com/offsite/motor...hiny-angle.jpg |
In B.C your car would sell fast , we have lots of fireflies still on the streets, mostly rust free and owned by frugal forward thinkers.
It would also be great for someone to make a hybrid electric diesel car / trike like Mechs with..:) |
If I were in B.C., I'd be in serious trouble. Too many cheap, old eco-cars still around!
I believe in reincarnation! Hopefully someone else does too, and puts the EV bits into something else. Classified ads have been posted around the web. We'll see what happens... |
Sure, sure.. steal all the viewers away from
>>> *** my civic hx for sale *** <<< with a cooler car and more fun ad. I'd love to play with that thing, bring it and some cash and drive my hx home. |
Ha! Very clever threadjack!
(Kidding) :D I fixed your post so your HX thread can ride the ForkenSwift wave. |
Who, me? What? HaHa. Thanks for the hyper-link. You would think I'd have done that if I was truly devious.
Can't a guy get a little jealous at the rate someone else is getting views? You'd think folks had an alert set in their computers for anytime the word forkenswift popped up. I can't believe you are giving up on her. I guess she'll go the way of all those metros, death by oxidation cancer. |

Man, would you ever. "Pssst, hey, hey you! You want some Sprint? I got the best ones, no rust! How about some VX? Ya ya, it's the good stuff, right from Japan!" :snail: |

War_Wagon: Stop. Just stop.
Distance makes me immune. --- Update! The guy who was interested in the motor says he's likely going to take the whole car. Will know more this week. |
Cool. Did he say what his plans were for it? EM member?
|
Not a member. He says he'll either use the motor/adapter plate/coupler in a higher voltage conversion, or he'll use all the 48v bits in a side-by-side ATV.
|
Excellent! So you have space and money to spend! You sure you don't want to come back out to Vancouver? I have a rust free Metro that I'd donate to the cause just to see the story and pics of the road trip back - whether or not it would actually make it would be a totally different story ha ha. Synchros?? Pffft, those are for people that can't shift! :snail:
|
Well, no, not yet. (You know better than to count your pre-chickens!)
Synchros? I don't need no stinkin' synchros! And my asking the following question represents no particular seriousness on this matter... but what year is it? |
The Plot thickens
|
Im still waiting for my passport.
|
It's a '96 I think? I am pretty sure it's still there, I haven't seen it in a while but next time I'm up there I'll have a look. It's the last one I have, and it was one of the first ones I bought, I think you saw it when you were in town. "Ran when parked" as all the best old Buy & Sell ads used to say! :snail:
|
Kijiji is a good site to advertise on , i found my car on it.
|
I received a deposit on the ForkenSwift parts. The transaction should wrap up in a couple of weeks.
|
If you come out here to pick up your newly donated Metro, remember I still owe you a case of beer! Add that to the plot.:turtle:
|
I'll feel like an outlaw transporting beer across provincial borders!

Yup it's still there, I looked yesterday. "One of us, one of us" says all the west coasters ha ha.
Also, transporting beer across the line was the premise of "Smokey and the Bandit", and I know you didn't just say that wasn't a worthy cause ha ha |
Oh man. This may turn into quite the meet up.
|
I'll say. I've been driving a Tahoe around while I wait for it to get shipped south, and am starting to like it. I need and intervention, and Metro needs, well, a Metro!
