Fuel Efficient Tires 2022

I'm going to need new tires sooner rather than later, sometime this year. Want to make sure I leave myself enough time to research what is best before needing to make an emergency purchase.

What are some good options for LRR tires? I've seen the GY Fuel Max, but they aren't available in 14". Michelin Energy Savers seem to be unavailable as well. What other options should I look at?

4x19" wheels, BMW i3 tires?

If your willing to downsize just buy RE92s in the 165/65r14 size (all other sizes suck) on a Gen 1 Prius even after odometer correction it was a big jump in mpgs

Another option that is close are Vredsteins

And there are Dunlop enasaves but likely not as good

Many insight owners are moving to Vredestein Quatracs. They're not marked as LRR, but the observed economy drop is minimal compared with the high watermark RE92s, they have a lot more grip in all conditions, and they're cheap. Not a perfect fuel record setting tire, but s great compromise.

Other than that, options are getting pretty slim.

14 is a dead size. Time to get new tires and wheels.

Unfortunately, for most of my vehicles their tire circumference is just as dead in every wheel size. My options in 15 and 16 are no better if I want something that still fits in the wheel well.

I usually go to Tire Rack, put in my stock tire size, then sort by Consumers' Highest Rating. Out of the top three or four, I pick the one with the combination of best price, darkest green survey ratings, and most miles reviewed. I just checked for an 01 Corolla and your options are pretty thin in 14".

Might have to go a little bigger.

What is that circumference exactly? Any chance it's 27½"?

Must 90's Hondas used 22.4", in various ratios on 13 and 14" wheels.

Look at oem takeoff wheels. I see them off Priuses for $200-300 all the time. It might rub since oem size is 24.98"ish, but if it does sell the tires and you have a free set of aluminum 15x6 wheels. 15-16" is where the good tires are.
I just bought some for the Sequoia since it was cheaper than buying tires. I got (5) 245/75R17 Michelins for $400, sold my old tires for $40, and sold the jeep wheels that were on those tires for $100. Essentially getting the tires for $260 with 30 miles on them from the jeep dealership. A lot better than the $1200 tirerack wanted and mileage is up too lol.

If the tires rub what the drift kids do is insert an aluminum baseball bat behind the tire and roll the car forward until it falls out ahead of the tire.

Never tried it but one'd have differing diameter as you choke the bat and one could make multiple passes.

Maybe on newer cars, but in the 66 buick special, it just rolled around and creased the bat
