Gas sipping generators?

An interesting idea my mom and I were throwing back and forth, are there any generators capable of running a small heater for 4-6 hours that would use less than a gallon of gas? One of the posts I work up here I have no access to electricity and it gets ~20F at night. If I could burn 1/2-3/4 gallon a day, it would be worth it to me personally to he comfortable. Unless there is some sort of plug-inable thing that is capable of the same feat, I think it's my best option.

P.S to clarify, the genny would only be running about 6 hours a night max. Maybe 8 if it got really cold and I had to have it running all shift. She asked if a car battery is capable since we have a trickle charger at home, but I don't think it is.

Combust the fuel, get heat. Cut out the middleman.

Ha, ha ha. Ha ha ha.

Anyway, I was looking at this one but idk. It seems small enough and strong enough, and I can't find anything else around that price.

900 Peak/800 Running Watts, 2 HP (63cc) Gas Generator

Electric vest powered from 12v battery. Make it yourself for $10. Takes a lot less energy if you put the heat right into the body not air. 20-30 watt should be plenty, but if your going to do it, wire 2 circuits so you can have 3 heat settings.

Made one about 10 years ago for winter motorcycle commute.

Using a battery you'll only get 12 volts, so have to adjust calculation for that.

Waste oil heater or wood burner if you have a ready supply of either.

I was serious. Use a fueled heater of some sort.

I'm sitting inside of a car. It has to not kill me with fumes :P. The reason I thought of a generator was I could run a extension cord through a small cracked window.

They wouldn't in a house, but you never said car. Look at apu's, its what they're designed for.

What is an apu exactly?

Auxillary Power unit, big trucks use it instead of idling.

If all you need is heat, look towards RV stuff. My old VW camper had a gas feed heater. Which would be more efficient like Frank said.
