2000 Dodge Dakota V8 2wd

I got a Dodge pickup for $3,000 not as a daily driver, thank God.
A real ecomodder special.
Virtually no rust even by new Mexico standards, doesn't appear to burn oil.
First mod get a white wife beater and wear it without washing it till it's sweat colored. No not really.
First for real mod will be a back window protector. I have a headache rack or roll over bar from something. The previous owner left it here, it's definitely not for a Dodge or any pickup, maybe for a bronco, a real one. I'll have to add, remove and weld the tubes in several places. I'll do that before I take out the back window with a chunk of firewood or some piece of rouge lawn equipment's.

It's going to need tires, it has and is recommended 215/75R15, They're pretty worn down and very dry rotted. I'm thinking 235/75R15 Yokohama AT.

I remember seeing some rear window protectors similar to what you're intending to make, they used to be quite common here too. Finding one for the Dakota has been much harder here, even if that would serve only as a reference for your project.

If it has a 4.7L V8, that will respond really well to an intake air heater.

Will this back window protector form the basis for a full or partial aerocap?

I think I was wrong it's got a 5.2L so I think it's a 1999.
No aero cap l need the bed open, it's not a daily driver, hopefully I only put gas in it every month or 2.

First fuel economy run I filled up the Dodge with all my fuel jugs. Dumped the half gallon or so to of chain saw gas, defueled the weed eater, dumped what was in my 5 gallon gas can and defueled the riding mower.
Then took I to the ethanol free gas station and put about a half gallon of gas in it to fill it up all the way, then filled up my gas cans.

I have a 5.2 reliable but very thirsty.

Double your fuel economy if you have a stick, intake and top end gasket is always bad if left stock.
Automatic transmission is garbage, need to change fluid all the time and avoid overdrive if you tow anything

What gasket likes to leak?
It does idle a bit high imo.

I fixed an annoying noise, going over bumps at highway speeds it sounded like the cab had broken body mounts, nope it was the front of the bed smacking the back of the cab. I bent if forward for now.
Custom headache bar will fix that so it won't happen again.

The diff was leaking oil, I think I fixed it.

Being a long time Mopar addict: nope the diff aint sealed, it's just planning the new leak point. Vent tubes are a favorite wasp nest building place.

Yeah I blew out the diff vent line with compressed air and the fitting is clear. I like the rubber fill plug.

Lookup plenum gasket leak.

Power will be down like a bad egr

I replaced mine with a steel racing intake which eliminates the leaky defective aluminum on steel intake.
