Gearhead from Spain. Old Civic, Olds & S10
Hi guys.
I just bought a 1990 Civic hatch, is from the European market so you don't have this engine in the USA, is a 1.3 single carb 75hp. I hope to get very good FE with this one, because, the real thing is I LOVE american cars, in fact, I have a 1981 Olds Delta88 with a rebuilt 403 and a 1995 S10 Blazer 4.3 auto I was using as DD and killing my wallet. Less money on gas means more money on parts, AND I LOVE JDM, so I'm more than happy with the lil Honda. Just how funny the only cars I don't like are the european ones.... I born in the wrong place... Lots of plan for this little thing in the future. This Civic is the lower equipment possible. No A/C, No P/S, No power windows, No central locking, so only 1900lbs. I'll post a couple of pics when I can. |
And, forgot to say, I think this forum is amazing!!!
As a gearhead I love to work on my cars, don't matter if its for more performance, handling, reliability, or getting better mpg. I really appreciate all the info here. Thanks to all the Eccomoder Community!!!! |
My 5 labor days commute is only 10 milles a day in 4 trips (A-B/B-A and A-C/C-A)
70% of the time at a steady 50mph, slightly up/downhill and very light traffic without any traffic lights. I live in the coast, very hot weather, min temp in winter about 50ºF and max in summer about 100ºF. this must be really low numbers in gas bill, BUT! here in this country, the price is like 7 dollar per Gallon(if my math aren't wrong) or like we measure here 1.43 euros per liter. |

Welcome to the forum! |

Have you never considered an engine swap for the Blazer? Wouldn't be so hard to get a 4-pot turbodiesel ranging from 2.4L to 3.0L to slap into it.

Here is funny but at the same time annoying how average people ask if my engine is a 3 or 3.5 liter!!! jajaja |

Yes 4 parts so, maybe I should put WAI in top of my list??? grill block??? and about swapping the blazer, yes I think sometimes, an alum SBC LS:D, it sure will get better mpg than the V6, twice the power!!! but here is difficult and is not cheap. As I said a love american muscle, and like almost anything old, but new cars and diesel??? no thanks! I really hate diesel. And one more thing, I will not switch or swap the honda to FI!!! I even think in bike carbs + raise compression, and maybe they make great low end torque and good FE, just a think... |
I bet their heads explode when you tell them it's a 7 liter hahaha. Are you suggesting that you would put a carbureted sbc Ls engine in the blazer and not fi?

BTW we might have born in the wrong places: if you hate Diesels you would love to be Brazilian  |
