Geo Metro 13 inch steel wheel weight

The only reference I'd seen for the wheel weight was on teamswift:

TeamSwift • View topic - 99 metro/swift oem steel wheel weight

Quote:

the older MK2/MK3 13" x 4.5" steel wheels are about 14 lbs
I weighed the tire + wheel while doing the research for http://ecomodder.com/forum/showthrea...year-8779.html ...

.... and it came out to 27 lbs with the 155/80/13 on it.

I also happened to have a loose 155/80/13 tire in the garage, which weighs 13.5 lbs. It's not the same kind as the tire on the rim though.

But assuming it's close to the same weight as the tire on the rim, that puts the steel rim weight at 13.5 lbs

while reading through that test you did, I was curious about the weight of the tires

cool

I'd still like to find myself a set of lightweight 13 inch rims I can stick my existing tires on - 155/80/13 - and then immediately cover up with smooth wheel covers! :)

But the car has an uncommon bolt pattern: 4 x 114 mm . Not too many 13 inch options out there. I can only lust after the VX rims; can't use them.

Try these rims:

www.diamondracingwheels.com : Mini Stock Series

$75.50 each for their 10.5 lb rims that are 13x5.5

I should have said, "I'd still like to find myself a set of cheap lightweight 13 inch rims" :D

Also, the FWD style rim apparently weighs 2-3 lbs more (see note, bottom of the link you sent), which would be pretty much the same as stock.

$55 each at Discount Tire.

Just have your rotors/drums redrilled for the common 4x100 bolt patern... It should cost less than the above mentioned wheel cost, but you'd have to have your VX wheel ready....

MetroMPG 06-25-2009 10:40 PM

You can do that? (Moving the studs?) That hadn't even occurred to me.

Sadly, I even used to have a set of VX rims, but sold them after I sold my 89 Accord.

Great information Darin, you're on a roll with awesome suzukiclone info. I really want to see a metro with VX rims on it. I hope maybe this can help one of us make it happen.
