Some economy cars which seemed to be everywhere in their days are now praised as a collectible. Why can't it happen to the Metro too?

Even though that generation of the Suzuki Swift and its rebadges might not have achieved a sales volume comparable to the Beetle in every market where at least one had been officially available, it had a broader global presence than other cars comparable to a modern Beetle somehow. Had the Brazilian Suzuki and Mitsubishi assembler not been focused so strictly on the SUV range, I'm sure either the current generation of the Swift (which could be sourced from India like it's done in some neighboring countries) or the Mirage could sell like hot cakes here.
