2016 Prius Glides Like a Champ

I was knocked out by the numbers when I drove the 2016 Prius at the launch event in Southern California. I finally got hold of one to test here in Jersey last week. Here's a ten mile stunt drive …

This was my second and final attempt. I did slightly better on my first attempt - without the cameras on. I'd reckon that it's good for 100+ with the stars aligned and a good driver.

Cool! Was this the "eco" trim?

And this was in cold temps. Imagine how it'd do on a nice, dry 74 F day. (With the tires pumped up!)

The engine may have kicked in more easily at the end because you started with 5 bars on the battery, but finished with 3.

Impressive car, nevertheless!

It was a Prius Three, not a Two/Eco.

The first time I tested was at the media event in Southern California at ideal temps, back in November. I was blown away by the numbers and thought they wouldn't hold up here in the Jersey cold.

Alas, I didn't get to test in seriously cold weather - we hit single digits this weekend.

I might put more effort into topping up the battery before taking the run with the next hybrid. Knock wood, I'll get to test the Malibu Hybrid at some point this year.
