Since this is not adding frontal area, I hope it's not going to add any drag.

If it generates a wide band of vortexes under the engine openings, it might cause some effect. Maybe I'll see a coolant temperature change.?.
Maybe the noise level will drop?

When VTs were added under the nose of a Honda Insight, it made the car more stable at highway speeds.

Immediately noticeable was improved aerodynamic stability. The Insight is not an aerodynamically stable car at speed – it is discombobulated by, especially, the bow waves of trucks. This can be felt when slowly passing a truck heading in the same direction on a multi-lane road. As the Honda draws adjacent to the front of the truck, the very light car is pushed away from the truck. (This affect, once recognised, can be felt to a degree in lots of cars – but it’s quite clear in the Honda.) With the undertray vortex generators in place, the affect of the truck bow waves was diminished. The bow wave affect could still be felt, but it needed less steering correction.

OK, so the car was experiencing better stability, probably through reduced frontal lift. But would there be a trade-off in extra drag, resulting in increased fuel consumption? The answer to that is – no!

With the undertray vortex generators in place, the fuel consumption averaged 2.9 litres/100. In fact, on one trip the car equalled its best-ever consumption at 2.8 litres/100km – however, the traffic flow that day was particularly kind and so I don’t think that the vortex generators can be said to have helped in achieving this. But they certainly weren’t harming fuel consumption..."

I did 30 highway miles last night. On the way to Quincy, most of the trip was stop and go. Average speed was about 8 MPH until we got past the broken down car on the side of the road. (All 4 million cars that went by had to stop and look)!

But, we drove back home in the 58 MPH range on the way back and the glue held very well.
I was trying not to get us killed by all the Saturday night drivers going
70 to 90, so I didn't take any time to notice the effects of the mods.
Didn't even think about looking at the SC2 until I got home.
Maybe old folks should just stay at home on Saturday nite! :turtle:

The coolant temperature seems to running a little lower than normal.
But I'm pretty sure that has to do with the cooler weather we are having in Mass.

Made a short trip to Home Depot (Gorilla tape) on Rt-95 and noticed my MPG weren't
all that great either. So, it might have to do with the cooler weather.
I'm pretty sure my Jumbo Orange ZZ strip isn't hurting my MPG..

I hope to be doing a doing a 200 mile round trip next Sunday on the Mass Pike.
I plan on passing some trucks (if I can find some slow ones) to see if the
stability/handling feels any different as I drive into truck-wakes..

Since my CRV front end isn't really that light, I'm not likely to see
"improved aerodynamic stability". But, you never know until you try.

Got the Gorilla tape today and hope to add some normal size ZZ tape to the mirrors next week.

Any chance to repost those pictures? I'm looking at somethign similar for the GoKart along the hood front and roof at the break line above windshield.

Since I've replaced my old CRV, I'm slowly getting rid of all the old pics..

I'm not sure that this 'mod' did anything. Maybe if the coroplas was a bit thicker.?.
Theoretically, (at least in my mind) it should have had some effect..
But, that effect might be very hard to detect.

I'm not convinced it's gonna help me at all. biggest thing i need is some way to reduce or fill the drag bubble behind the gokart. Flow sims that i have available both show a big clunk of dead air being hauled along. Trouble is the calculation time between each thing I try is tough.
