Giving away Electric Car & Electric Motorcycle Instructional DVDs!

Hi everyone,

I am going to give away my BUILD YOUR OWN ELECTRIC CAR and BUILD YOUR OWN ELECTRIC MOTORCYCLE instructional DVDs.

Here's the only catch - you have to be a TEACHER.

Just today, I finished reading THE GOOD FOOD REVOLUTION, by Milwaukee's own Will Allen. His book is his biography and all about his urban farming system, but it's also about the greater good that he's done, and how that work has had a positive influence on so many people's lives.

At a number of events, I have often given away copies of my electric vehicle instructional DVDs to middle-school and high-school teachers. Knowing how little they earn, and how getting a reimbursement from the school is such a pain, I'd simple donate a copy, hoping that it might start a seed at that school for some sort of clean transportation extra-curricular.

For some time, I've thought that if I really wanted to get big with it, maybe just GIVING away copies to school teachers by mail order might be the best way to get a lot of information and inspiration out there fast.

Inspired by Mr. Allen's hard work and positive influence, I decided that I want to GIVE AWAY 100 COPIES of these instructional DVDs.

So here's the deal. Write me with your name and your school's mailing address and let me know if you want the Car video or the Motorcycle video (or both). I'll mail it out to you at absolutely no cost what-so-ever.

Please let me know if something comes from it. If your school builds an electric car, at least partly because of your video, please tell me, and send some photos.

I'll be doing this all at my own expense. Even though I actually burn, print, and mail the DVDs myself, there is a certain amount of cost for the materials, cases, packaging, and shipping. So, if there is anyone with a little bit of money, and wants to sponsor a school, you can donate to the project in any amount. A DVD costs over $5 for the materials and shipping. If you donate $5, one school could be on the start of a student electric car program. If you can afford to donate more, please do!

Sponsors and well-wishers can please donate HERE.

To "place an order" for a DVD, visit Give-away for Teachers and put your name, school name, and address, and which DVD you want in the comments.

Great idea. Some students would definetly be interested in learing about clean ways of transportation

Tell all your teacher friends. Especially shop and science teachers.
Maybe we can really get something rolling from this!

Mailed out 5 DVDs so far today. They included public schools, tech schools, a home schooling organization, and technical training class that works with special needs students.

My personal goal is to give out 100 DVDs.
5 down, 95 to go!

Gonna need more sponsors.....

I've been telling my teacher friends, I'm also going to end up doing a public viewing of your DVD's with a local renewable energy group who have been focusing on hands on projects.
I also made a small donation, seems like a worth while project!

Cool!

You will notice that there is not a giant FBI disclaimer at the beginning of the video saying that you can't show it in public. That's one of the many things that you can not, by law, do with a typical home video recording.

On the other hand, I encourage public viewings, and loaning your video out to your friends. (If you want another copy PLEASE order one!)

So far, donations coming in are just covering costs of making and shipping discs. If it stays that way, I'm happy to mail out as many DVDs as teachers ask for!

I've sent out videos to about 10 schools so far.

Spread the word! We need to get more out there!

Wish you were giving them away to common people like me I'd like to see if I could figure out how to build an electric car. I know I'd never figure it out without a how to guide.

Well, you can always buy it...

Electric Car Instructional DVDs

Or read through Ben's or Pauls crazy long car conversion threads.

Ryland 08-02-2012 09:27 AM

Most of Ben's videos are also on YouTube, it just takes more work on your part to get them for free.
Best way to cut the cost of the DVD in half is to convince a friend to buy it with you and split the cost.
But as I see it, it's both education and entertainment and I spend way more then $20 a year on non educational entertainment.
