Ditto more or less For LA. legend: decommissioned (according to tale) when Goodyear made commercial bus tires so cheap, they were essentially free to the transit company. May have also been some hand greasing, but not provable in court unless you looked hard. Guessing steering tires didn't last more than 10,000 miles back then
If I recall correctly they even built a tire plant down the street from the main bus yard. Drive on the 605 northbound and there is still the goodyear factory next to the bus yards. Could see the words Goodyear on the roof, next to a collection of parked busses
