Good looking cars that you love the most

In response to the "Ugly cars that gross you out the most" thread.
Post the beautiful ones here.:D

I'll start with a few of my favorites.

1977 Ford Bronco

Can you tell I like Fords?:D

Flakbadger 11-06-2012 09:24 PM

No question about it. I think this car is absolutely a work of art. If I won the lottery, I would buy one of these straight away.

I like the Chevrolet SSR and the HHR because they resemble the most beautiful of all the Chevy trucks ever made. Until mid-70s the cars used to have more personality in their designs...

Arragonis 11-07-2012 12:17 PM

May I present my lottery list ? ;)

Lambo Miura - They seem to have gone downhill since this one - style wise anyway
http://lh5.google.com/conceptscars/R...ni%20Miura.jpg

These have a "rally slag" theme to them - apologies.

Lancia 037
http://encarsglobe.com/data_images/m...cia-037-12.jpg

Ford RS200 EVO
http://integrityexports.com/wp-conte...at-auction.jpg

Metro 6R4 - so ugly its just perfect.
http://www.evo.co.uk/images/front_pi..._415696_25.jpg

Renault Alpine A108 - sex on wheels. Its like Bridget Bardot's older, better looking and less "mad as a bag of frogs" sister dressed in weekend jeans and still looking sexier than Shania Twain covered in chocolate.
http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedi...ult_Alpine.jpg

Toyota GT-86 (*wants). Take note please Subaru - this is how that flat 4 should be - smooth, quiet, powerful, efficient.
http://cdn.pocket-lint.com/images/4Q...0120730-190456

Honda CR-Z (*also wants)
http://www.swanswayhondamanchester.c...Honda-CR-Z.jpg

Lotus 11 - Would love one of these with George's engine in it and tallllllll gearing.
http://www.svvs.org/genpics9/Lotus_11.jpg

And as for Muscle cars

pah - I thumb my nose at zem...

THIS is the kind of body you put a big, powerful (if slightly old fashioned) American V8 into.

This car is so louche it shagged your cat and wore your slippers and dressing gown whilst you were reading this posting...

On the Gt86, that actually is a subaru motor, but toyota did the direct injection system. Most of the parts on the car are stamped subaru as well. Two guys I know have them, one has the GT86, the other has the FRS, both beautiful cars!

The "Toyota" flat 4 seems nicer - I've ridden in a few Imprezzas which are loads of noise, whistles and pish TBH, and a GT86 which was a sonorous, high revving, tail sliding marvel - and I prefer FWD :D

So just to punt the idea - someone with a carp Sube flat four - fit the DI GT86 version - I bet you get better FE ;)

Could I also nominate the Ferrari 308 GT/4

http://carphotos.cardomain.com/ride_...0017_large.jpg

The same bits as the 308 GTS that Tom Selleck tail slided in Magnum's opening titles, but in a body styled by Bertone. They were unpopular used and depreciated a lot. A guy I knew at college spotted one on sale in Blackpool, Lancashire England and bought it for £8,500. He was the king for the 2 weeks the engine lasted.

He looked into rebuilding it after it went pop.

And then when he found the parts were special alloy castings only available from the Ferrari importers, the gearbox used "Unobtainium" bearings and the suspension would ride on dampers filled only with the finest Unicorn Farts he decided to dump it in a barn on his dad's farm from which it was scrapped.

Nowadays of course someone would fix the body and fit a V6 from something, probably Honda or Audi.

I also post this

Usable lighting/active grill block? Cause why else would you need a 1/2 ton car, tiny engine front wheel drive that was banned from rally? oh wait, thats a great reason! Who needs a "Smart" these days?

True, but what I meant is that the actual toyota gt86 was developed in partnership with subaru. The motor is different than the impreza motor, but still an actual subaru boxer engine. Subaru even has it's own version of the car called the BRZ. The same car apart from some interior and the fascias. I do love these cars though, everyone seems to hate the rims but I don't mind them. I've been trying to talk my buddies into letting me drive one of them.

"Eco" or aero or otherwise, I actually think the Avion is a handsome shape.

http://graphics8.nytimes.com/images/.../533-avion.jpg
It visually conveys its slippery reality, in an effective way.

I really like the Ford o21c concept, because there's nothing else out there even on the same page. Instead of trying to look faster and meaner and more aggro than anything else, it's just fun. Hell, I'm a hetero male who owns a V8 powered Jeep and I'd happily drive an o21c, in hot pink with a string hanging out the tailpipe.
http://www.cars-show.org/wp-content/...vehicle-03.jpg

I also really like the first generation Montero/Raider/Pajero appearance... it's completely utilitarian but somehow endlessly endearing. Yes, I used to own one of these and yes, we went on lots of adventures together so maybe I'm just nostalgic.
http://www.motorstown.com/images/dodge-raider-01.jpg

I think the Eagle SX4 and Local Motors Rally Fighter are both good looking cars for about the same reason... they have a sleek athleticism about them, fast and tough. Everything I wish my own body was capable of ;)

Can you tell that it was performance that got me into the automotive world ;). I genuinely find fuel economy to be just as interesting as other forms of performance.

I have always wanted a Smart Roadster. It would be a perfect daily driver.

Although they do look a little odd from the front...

I actually saw one on my way to work once years ago and I just had to know what it was. They were never sold in the states and I have no idea how that guy got his hands on one, but I have wanted one ever since.

Agreed but the engines are a little, er, carp - rapid wear and no benefit in terms of FE, life or powah.

1974 ? Jeebus man the Cooper S was gone by then to be replaced by the delightful Clubman 1275GT - apparently BL didn't like paying Mr Cooper a royalty on each car with the badge.

was on the 1968 Monte - 5th overall I think - tail end of the Cooper revolution. The Coopers were banned from the 1966 rally for "having iodine vapour, single filament bulbs in their standard headlamps instead of double-filament dipping bulbs" according to Wikipedia - I only know it was the lights.

As for a grill block that could have been a good idea. Just behind the grill is the distributor which sits on the front "side" of the engine - where of course rain would hit it and stop it working. The radiator was on the passenger side of the engine bay cooled by a viscous fan. It was moved to the front in (I think) 1997 when the car also got FI.

The key thing here is that this is a proper use of the boxer engine - low down, as far back as possible - the key RWD layout - and I prefer FWD. Unlike normal Subes where the unit is very forward and "constrained" by the 4wd system. The standard Boxer 4 as used by Subaru has no advantage really over a transverse 4cyl inline. I'm also not a fan of the "dum-dum" noise - glad the GT-86 doesn't have it.
