Another VX RIP...maybe

If this is in the wrong section, mod please move...

After fixing up and doing maintenance on my Civic VX, the car got stolen. It's a 1993 with dents, broken headlights, and rusts with a stock stereo from 1993 that doesn't display the channels. Would never expected the car to get stolen and after owning it for 3 years, it was gone after parking at a safe neighborhood...

I had invested $1400 on repairs within the past 2 months, including the o2 sensor, and after talking to the claims adjuster, she since the car is pretty stripped and they will salvage it. Car only had 119K miles and have every single record/maintenance/oil change since 1993!

Damn thieves just have to destroy another stock VX!!

Any ideas or suggestions on how to get more from the insurance company?

Stolen parts:
1. Cluster
2. Clock
3. Door panels
4. Passenger Window
5. V1 Radar
6. My Fastlane
7. Front Bumper
8. Trunk
9. Front and rear License Plates
10. Trunk Cover
11. Bowling shoes!!
12. Ties!!
13. My coin stash
14. Factory rims
15. Factory front Honda emblem from 1993.
16. Hit in the Face by taking the stock shift knob!!
17. Golf set!!
18. Side mirrors?!!!
19. Dog leash!!

Before:

After

Probably going to buy it back and sell it as-is for someone who wants a very reliable car that I have every single record/maintenance since 1993.

THEY TOOK YOUR BOWLING SHOES!!!

That bites. (The whole thing, I mean - not just the shoes.)

How many VX's have we lost due to theft on this forum now? 3?

I would go to a dealer and give them a list of what is missing and ask them to print you out a price list, but most likely you are going to get paid as if it was totaled, still $3,000 or so, then find someone with one that was totaled and swap out parts, after selling some honda parts online I've found out who around me has civic parts, this weekend I'm going to try to pick up a set of doors and trunk hatch my self, $130 for everything, bumpers are $120 new from auto part stores, wheels... car-part.com is a good place to look.

Terrible news. Is there a "bare minimum" set of repairs you need to get it running again? This is what I *think* you absolutely need to do :

Quote:

Stolen parts:
1. Cluster
4. Passenger Window
7. Front Bumper
8. Trunk
9. Front and rear License Plates -> New plates
14. Factory rims -> Steelies
16. Hit in the Face by taking the stock shift knob!! -> becomes no-name knob
18. Side mirrors?!!! -> Becomes mirror downsize/delete

Chances are, I'll buy it back and sell it really cheap as-is to a local member or if anyone wants to buy it. The car only have 119K, engine and transmission is great. Entire new exhaust, o2 Sensor, timing-belt/tune-up, and the interior is very mint. A non-smoker car since 1993 by the previous owner and me. I didn't even get the chance to see the mileage difference as I just switched in the o2 sensor and it's currently on the first tank.

I would give them copies of the receipts of the work you had done in the last few months and try the parts list to get it up and running. See if they can at least add on the repaired/replaced parts that were new over the last few months.
