Google REALLY hates REAL cars and REAL car aficionados!
 

Google might be ahead of everyone in the new class of autonomous cars, but their design language direction is an emasculating caricature design. They are destroying the evocative and expressive aesthetics of 'car' design. By taking out the love for beautifully sculpted, powerful and purposeful machines, they are tearing the heart out of REAL drivers and their love for REAL cars. It is obvious their autonomous design theme is to project that they are un-intimidating, squishy & 'soft touch' robots. The new field of bio-inspired 'soft design' in industrial design tech direction; a visually benign 'face', rounded bio-shapes, soft surfaces, and have a child-like safe appearance.

Their design concept looks like a Hello Kitty toy! The creators of Kitty left the kitten's mouth off intentionally. Without one, you project your own feelings onto her. If you're happy, she looks happy. If you're sad, she looks sad. If you're confused, she shares your confusion. Awww?

On the other hand, Lamborghinis show their fangs, body character lines/knife edges to cut you in half, haunched low ready to pounce, aggressive & sharp wheel spokes ready to tear your fingers off, growling & then screaming exhaust notes, and glowing hot & flame belching multiple exhaust tips make any tunnel driving an orgasmic experience!

According to an article I saw this morning the reason for building these cars like this is because the soft front end is a safety feature in case somebody gets hit by a malfunctioning one. And it's supposed to look "cute" so people are more willing to try it.

If it works out though they are planning to partner with some automaker with a real design

The soft n cuddly appearance will insure they only get a small share of the global market , much like google's glasses , A over hyped flop that gets more laughs then users.
