Got rear wheel covers? (McLaren X-1 concept)
On top of a supercar McLaren MP4-12C, a client wanted a design mash up of classic cars into one. At least, they added a rear wheel cover on top of this mutt of a design. McLaren X-1 Concept created as one-off for anonymous client

For some reason I doubt the anonymous client had FE in mind. But if I'm wrong, and s/he is a member of this forum, please let us know:)

I find it interesting on how they implemented access to the rear wheel by lifting the skirt. ;)

Wow, is that cool.

Alright, I'm just going to say it... that thing is Ugg-leee! Yes, it's cool how the skirts are raised, but what a clash of straight and curved lines, chrome & black... sheesh...
If that's what the client likes, no problem... but while I love (lust after?) McClaren designs normally, that is one I don't... |

Something old is new again. There are several solutions for aero-fender skirts. HowStuffWorks "1947-1948 Isotta Fraschini 8C Monterosa Presentation"

That thing is sexy!:D
Still like the F1 better. |
NachtRitter -- I like it, if only because it reminds me of the front fender-line on the Toyota Fun VII

With a twin turbo 3.8 Liter V6 making 592HP, something tells me this will get less than 50 MPG highway. With all that crap hanging off the body, I really doubt its Cd number is all that great either. This is just a rich mans wet dream car. |

What would you rather be, the guy who bought a (hideous) fancypants car? Or the guy who bought the license for Lopinavir from Abbot Pharma and then gave it away to the world for free? My career has given me the good fortune of driving a fair number of exclusive cars (out in the open, I'm not a valet  ) and other than showing off, there's really nothing special about them. The objectively best cars I've ever driven have been pretty affordable - Acura TL, Subaru Forester, etc... there's just nothing else to want in a car (speaking of luxury, daily living, utility, fun to drive, dependability, etc) - so what does one get when one spends a half million dollars on a car? They get to prance around and show off? How insipid. I'm not suggesting the very wealthy not spend money on whatever they choose, I'm suggesting that if they can't think of anything better to spend it on than some weekend showoff car - they're unimaginative and boring and a little pitiful. |
Excepting the luxury, daily driving and dependability you get more bang for the buck from a rat rod. According to
Rat Rod vs Lamborghini Aventador! Roadkill Episode 5 men like the Lambo, and women like the rat rod. It's like mega-yachts--somebody gets to build them. It sounds like that's where the fun is. |
