280lb's is decent.
My Honda cb125 weighs 210lb and has a simaler top speed of 55mph.
A 2007 Kawasaki Ninja 250 weighs 304lb.
I'm not impressed by the "real world 35 mile range", mostly I'm confused by where all the weight is, as there is very little vibration, the frame can be lighter, the speed is low so that lowers the overall weight.
personally, for that much money I would build up something based off a moped, or small motorcycle, and probably knock the socks off the Enertia.
