Found this link... its a few years old but was wondering if anyone tried this or how much energy it could generate?

Sorry, but I don't "buy" it. No free energy - - - whatever those things generate has to come from the car's motion, which was hard-won by burning gas. Factor in conversion inefficiencies, and it would have to be a net loss. I can't imagine anything else.

Unless it was like a regenerative braking thing and only "charged" when braking, but I didn't see any mention of that in the ad. (I didn't look at it REALLY close, though).

Yes, it will line the vendors pockets green. The small benefit will not pay for it's self in fuel savings , If the wheel flywheels free wheel when the brake lights are on. The gimmick would probably stop working after the first time you drive through salted slush.

Adding weight and increased load on the wheels isn't a good thing. Especially as it isn't necessarily to increase your fuel economy so much as reduce your energy use at your home.

Save your money and skip the wheel covers. Just use a solar panel to charge those batteries. The only "free" energy is the sun. Free as in at no cost to you....after initial investment of course.

Moved to the Corral to let Unicorns A-B-A test it.

The link in the first post doesn't seem to work, but from what I've found on the net it appears, at best, to capture some energy while braking. Not worth the extra weight and cost, as mentioned earlier.
