Greeting from Sweden

Hello all

I have been visiting this site and the forum for more years than I care to admit and I am only now joining and posting.

From the title you can see that I'm from the Sweden, on the west coast close to Göteborg.

I have two vehicles. The first is a 1992 Renault 50 series, that has been built into a horsebox.
The only mods that have been done to her are to the driver, and I get a respectable 13 l/ 100km (might be a little better now as the fuel pump has just been refurbished). At the end of the day she doesn't get driven too much and I am more concerned about safety (of the horses) than economy.

The other is a 97 Ford Escort Estate, I found here last year whilst looking for a new car from my friend, my old Vauxhall Cavalier was suffereing from Scandinavian Chrome (rust) amongst other issues, so when I found the Escort that had been owned by a retired lady and had sat in a garage all of it life and service twice yearly, well I couldn't really say no.

By the book I should get 8 l/100 km but my summer figures show 6,5 l/100km by the odometer, but as this reads approximately 10% over the real life value is 5,9 l/100km.

So far it hasn't had much work done to it, again mostly driver mods - it wasn't easy to go from a diesel to a petrol. Mod wise it has had an upper grill block, an after market under engine cover, WAI, a set of denso plugs (I think the double iridium ones), and a little in car weight reduction.
I would like to get a lower grill block sorted, remove the sound deadening felt under the carpet (this will also help with the retention of water), a good service with new filters, oil ignition leads, etc. I do have a set of BNIB alloys for the summer tyres so at some point they will go on. Also need to have a look at the brakes as I think the hand brake is sticking a little.

I do have photos to put up but my post count needs to come up a little before I can post them. So when it does I'll add the photos.

My aims ? well I'd like to squeeze out a little more economy from the vehicles, but against some opinions here I'm not purely after fuel economy, I am after long term vehicle ownership economy, so mud flaps will be staying on the vehicles as well as some of the other more extreme mods.

I do respect the true hypermilers and the mods that you do, but living in a country that uses alot of salt and gravel on its roads, I don't want to preserve these vehicles for as long as possible.

Right that should do it, a few carefully placed posts (not spamm :P) and I should be able to show off my vehicles.
