Grille Block

Well, it's about -26 C here so I used black duct tape across my Saab's grille as a winter front. I guess I've got my first aerodynamic grille block too. :-)

Looks fine and only took 5 minutes.

The cold temps are going to make it very problematic to see any mpg benefit from the grille-block.You may have to wait 'til spring before results emerge from the background noise of winter driving.

Hi,

I have been running almost a full year with tape as a grill block -- I use Gorilla tape, though I started with transparent duct tape, and I tried Weatherseal tape, as well.

Yeah, any significant mpg gains will come from running a warmer engine.

Hey, I could have used the silver duct tape spaced 1/4 inch apart and it might have looked like a Taurus grill. :-)

Gorilla - Camo tape :P

That would have been pimp.

Hi,

Aerodynamics are even more important in the winter: I noticed that with frozen slush stuck to my car, my mileage stayed below 39mpg, and after cleaning it off, I got the average up to 41mpg again.
