Guy with a buncha Hummers tells you how to eco-drive
Really.
EcoDriving USA |
Slowly it is creping into a Mainstream kind-of position.. will take time - but things like this make the people who never thought about it , maybe start to think about it...
Remember the adage... a journey of a thousand miles - starts by running our of gas... ( or something) steve |
Ecodriving...Hummers...
 Let's see how long it takes until they start Body Mods-hey, what DO you get when you lower the body, say, 24 inches, attempt to streamline a cube, replace the engine with the most efficient Diesel you can afford, change to thinner wheels and low RR tires, a heavier flywheel and a modified cruising gear, body pans and a tail? Whatever you get, you could outfit a fleet of Geo Metros and VW Diesel Jettas with the $$$ required... |

I do believe that a Hummer drivin' Terminator is a reasonable way to get the ecodriving message out beyond just the MPG nutbars who are already aware and/or walking the walk. (Driving the drive?) |

I watched a documentary last night called "Iraq for Sale."
IRAQ FOR SALE: The War Profiteers You can watch a clip on Youtube or see the whole flick for free on Netflix. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yJUEULWEP9c It shows how Halliburton, Blackwater and other Iraq War contractors bought huge fleets of giant SUVs loaded with every available option and took them to Iraq and burned them for cost-plus reimbursement. Now we're bailing out the auto companies.... There is no energy crisis. It's worse than that. Bend over. We're all gonna end up ecomodding and ecodriving for survival. Hone your skills now while you can still afford to practice! |
You think that surprises me? Those SOB's are headquartered in MY state...if Bush instigates a 'December surprise' and declares Martial Law, NC will be the next New Orleans. Remember THAT Constitution-violating fiasco? Still got BW patrols there to this very day.
Still, the state that spawned Col. Francis "Swamp Fox" Marion won't be so easy as all that on Mr. Prince and Co.... But back to cars and such. It's good to know that even Hummer owners are looking to conserve fuel-nowhere to go but up, right? Come to think of it though-wouldn't a high clearance, multi-terrain vehicle like the Hummer be a perfect candidate for a Stirling-EV Hybrid conversion? Concentrate on the design strengths the Hummer provides-rugged, durable and multiple environment capable-reduce its maximum speed to about 60 MPH on open terrain, close up the grill since the ICE engine is gone, heavier flywheel...then apply the Stirling generator/ Electric drivetrain combo, and what do we get? An off-road, hard to kill vehicle that (with minor tweaks) could run on multiple fuels, generate emergency power for other uses and possibly be pressed into service as a Cargo hauler/ Tow vehicle/tractor. Get a lot better FE too... :turtle: |
Somebody else had to have seen this game too right?
Kinda silly, but fun to play a couple of times. I hit a couple of walls but I got a score of 35,xxx. |
