Happy Birthday America - Energy Independence Day

Hi everyone, as you may know, July 4th is Independence Day in the United States, usually celebrated with parades, picnics, and fireworks. I ran my Electric Geo Metro in our local parade on Saturday, with "Freedom from Foreign Oil" and "Support Energy Independence" banners on the car. What I learned was interesting - Most of the adults in the crowd cheered, but some children said "it's too small!" and a Girl Scout asked me if it was a Smart Car! I got a lot of cheers doing burnouts near the end of the parade, and I even tossed a couple of "BUILD YOUR OWN ELECTRIC CAR" DVDs out to the crowd. Next year, I will have to bring candy - most of the kids seemed to think it was a Trick-or-Treat day. You can read the whole posting on my Blog. -Ben |

Just keep on keeping on bennelson.
No one cares what the fuss was about in 1776 and few care today about the ancient fuss or the new now. Um, because I am who I am I do need to mention that some of the American Renewable Electricity is created by foreign oil. I am sure you are aware of that and the other problems inherent with electric cars involving moving the carbon footprint elsewhere. Having said that, happy Independence day and nice job. |
Well done Ben! You are leading the way in reaching out to the average Joe.

Very cool. It would be cool to co-opt July 4th with an energy-independence message. I think a tongue-in-cheek re-write of the Star Spangled Banner is in order. CarloSW2 |
