Have we forgotten about fuel prices?

So... I was looking at my fuel log and noticed the fuel price trend... remember it dropping dramatically before the presidential election last year?
It's creeping back up.

Interesting. Reminds me of the way to kill a frog by boiling it - put it in cold water and increase gradually and he doesn't notice enough to jump out!

I'm always watching the price of crude. Its slowing working its way back up.

Most people don't realize that we have gone past peak oil.

Frog Stew, for sure. I watch closely, but a singularity such as my self can do nothing to directly affect gas prices.

I'd like to see several years of that info.

If only we could have a 4$/ga diesel... It's currently at 6$/ga from the 9$/ga max last year and gasoline is 20-25% more expensive...

If there wasn't that CO2 bonus/malus when buying a new car and the CO2 tax next year then everybody would be driving fast cars.

The French CO2 tax will be only 17€/tonne, ie +0.045€/L (0.25$/ga) and +5%, so people will be sad during a few weeks then they'll pay it without thinking about it tank after tank, after tank... and will not change anything in their habits. The froggies gona be heated, and heated...

Denis.

Several years hell, I wanna see the uptrend starting from the 80's.

I would love to see gas priced, through taxes, according to its environmental impact and projected future scarcity. $6/gal wouldn't be too bad. Sustained high energy prices would encourage innovation and conservation, and they'd be the death of the SUV and of suburban sprawl. Just look at Europe, where gas is $6/gal.

Same thing happened in 2000 and 2004. Retail gasoline bottomed for the year in late November. 2008 was just a bit more dramatic. It'll happen again in 2012.
