The problem isn't delivery drivers- the "last mile" is the easiest part of the shipping industry to increase capacity in because there's almost no infrastructure needed. The big problem is warehouses not able to restock in the first place. The back end of the shipping industry has been overwhelmed for months by a combination of excessive demand, reduced worker capacity and reduced production.
Stores that offer things for sale that they expect to have in one day suddenly can't get them. Stores that drop ship suddenly don't have access to their products and don't find out about it until after the order is placed. Their resupply shipment dates keep getting pushed back as well.
But doesn't eBay require sellers to actually have things on hand in order to list them? I thought that was a thing.

No that isn't a thing. Ebay has never confirmed if I actually have the things I'm selling.
I've read that you can buy software that will look at average selling prices for items on Ebay and compare them to prices on Amazon. This software will look for items that are selling for more on ebay, list them, and then when someone buys the item purchase it from Amazon and have it shipped to the eBay buyer.
I can see that those types of transaction could have issues right now.

Ebay banned that in 2019:
Quote:
[L]isting an item on eBay and then purchasing the item from another retailer or marketplace that ships directly to your customer is not permitted.
|
Amazon only allows it from normal accounts, not Prime:
Quote:
Prime members are not permitted to purchase products for the purpose of resale, rental, or to ship to their customers or potential customers using Prime benefits.

And eBay does seem to allow drop shipping in their Terms and conditions:
Quote:
Items you list must be in your inventory or you must have an existing agreement with a third party to fulfill the delivery of the item under the terms of your listing
|
But listing something for sale when it doesn't actually exist isn't cool.

AFW had an ad in the newspaper showing a $258 recliner. I did not realize they made ones that cheap, but it is Lane.
Lane is decent, right?
When I tried to order for him before Mom had me show him and ask if it was okay. I wanted to check delivery before showing him. I found the advertised recliner, but I also found a blue one, although it wasn't Lane.
Mom originally insisted that I found a blue recliner.
It asked me which warehouse I wanted.
I am ordering on-line. Which would get it here the fastest?
The Gilbert location was closer.
Out of stock.
So I tried Glendale.
Out of stock.
Why don't you just tell me which locations, if any, have the piece?
I tried the advertised one. Out of stock in Gilbert, but available in Glendale!
There is a $99 shipping fee?! There wasn't for the pantry that I ordered!
It would still be cheaper than the other recliners that I saw. How long would it take?
Four weeks.
I am pretty sure that would get canceled.
Oh well, I should try to fix his current one anyway.

Personally I would never buy a chair or sofa that I haven't sat on first. Some look nice but are horribly uncomfortable.

I service a fleet of 100 trucks as my day job. I have been having discussions with my tire suppliers and they have told me that some tire manufacturers have been shut down due to the virus. The supply chain is now reaching a gap in tires from those manufacturers. Just be aware that you may need some lead time to get the tires you want. Just a heads up for everyone. I discussed this the the management of my company and I was told that the budget would not allow stock piling tires. So I have pre billed and purchased a couple sets of the tires that I use most for each of the last three months. I have a nice pile of tires to get me through the Winter.

I order shoes online, too. It was ideal when I was a size 12.5

...got an open box Ryobi leaf blower from Ebay last night that I'm excited about. Moar tooools!

Which leaf blower did you get?
I got one to push my kids toys to the corner of the room. Pick them up at one spot (easier on the back) and also vacuum (with ryobi handheld vacuum) the cats fur combined with the wife’s hair.
During the pandemic i bought myself some ryobi toys . (I dont have a garden but the leaf blower is good to blow dust from electronics and the car.)
