Fire at my house

Yesterday, my toaster went into thermonuclear meltdown while no one was home.

Fortunately, the house didn't burn down, but everything I own smells aweful and is covered in a thin layer of sticky soot which does not come off.

It is going to be a huge job to clean up. Not real happy right now.

I am leaving it to you guys to cheer me up!

At least the Metro was in the garage and not the house!

-Ben

Good to hear that the damage was light. How did the toaster go boom? When I first read the title I thought something bad happened to the bike.

The gunk is probably bits of plastic, it might scrub off

I am sorry about the terrible sooty smell, but it could have been so much worse! I usually take these events as "warnings" to look for other possible problems.

Maybe it's time to repaint the interior?!?!?! Cover the smell with a fresh layer of paint. Do you think that would work?

yeah, it looks like we will be repainting.

It is sort of strange how my home-built crazy contraptions are actually SAFER than off-the-shelf, made in China, Wal-mart appliances!

Yep, count your blessings every day.

Good thing it wasnt worse, and that nobody got hurt.

My wife has long since always unplugged the toaster when not using it, because she had one start on fire once. It usually ticks me off slightly, but after hearing about your experience, Ill be more thankful.

I am glad this did not turn out to be a disaster! Maybe you should build a new toaster instead of getting another crappy one

Hey! I have a great idea for a web forum.

Toastermodder.com

EDIT:

Oh wait. It's been done.

PS - that's the opposite of what I want.
