Hey y'all

New user here. Mechanical engineer (the heat transfer kind, not the piping and ductwork kind). I collect toyota corolla alltrac wagons. Plus I have a 88 celica.

The wagons do about 30.6 mpg at the moment, had it up to 31.5 with worn tires.
The celica does about 32 mpg.

I am not a native english speaker, and I also cannot spell english to save my life, which will become painfully apparent whenever I post. So sorry about that in advance. The spell check thingy in the upper right hand corner does not work for me. Searching for an idea which is posted here as the mpguino led me to this site.

In case you are wondering, y'all, an abbreviation of you all, and is the plural version of you.

Welcome to the site! For a non-native speaker, you're pretty good,

When you say collect, how many do you have?

I have 4 that are roadable and 1 that is just for parts. My only real problem with them is RUST. Arrghh.
They have between 130K and 205K miles on them. I can still get all the parts from Toyota. actually it was funny, I ordered a rear brake line that is on the back axle. It came from Japan with a Japanese hand written tag on it. It looked like it had been just made. I have a suspicion that they made it to order.

Welcome to the site. Lets see some pics. Almost everyone's car here has rust, no need to be ashamed.

Hey Ya'll,

No rust on my Tacoma. I live in Aridzona where abandond vehicles that would rust away to nothing in many other places, here they will last for nearly an eternity. Could probably park the Tacoma (after removing fuel) in the desert for a hundred years and it would probably be refurbishable and drivable. Of course the rubber would need replacing, but cars last a looong time out here.

Later,

Allan Greenblazer

Greenblazer, you are very lucky. Cutting out rusty panels and welding in new ones takes a lot of time, and don't even get me started on the seam sealing and painting.

Daox: A pic, huh?
I have one somewhere I took from the tower in the center of mount auburn cemetery in cambridge MA. So you see this little wagon (one of the two red ones) from up a tower that is about 100 ft high. The body looks REAL good in that picture. I have to look for that.
The cemetery is here:
http://www.mountauburn.org/

this 4 MB pdf file has a pic of said tower on page 5

http://www.mountauburn.org/download/cst_web.pdf

A real zen like place to drive thru, go up the top of the tower, from which you can see downtown boston.
