Hello

My name is Andrew

Bought my civic about a year ago from a good friend for driving to work and back.

I had a ranger with a v8 swap and was tired of putting miles on that and paying for gas.

Car is a 94 CX, typical honda rust and i don't plan on fixing it.

I couldn't find my logs for mileage to add in my garage, but i plan on starting a log and adding in as I go.

My highest fill up as been 55.65 mpg, and my last few were 47.8 and 46 mpg.

While my friend owned the car he couldn't get more than 35 or so. I've been slowing down my speed and EOC a bit, I want to install a kill switch soon so I'm able to do that a bit easier.

Welcome! Make sure you join Team Honda after you start your fuel log here.

Any plans to add a MPGuinio or other instrumentation?

Welcome! Nice numbers you describe. Ask MetroMPG, maybe on the bugs and feedback thread, how to import for previous fuel log. You could also enter the data manually.

Simple known-effective mods would be tire pressure, an airdam/chin spoiler, and a partial or complete grill block.

I've thought about that gauge since i've been reading about it on here, but i think thats to much work for the car i have now, I'd like to purchase a VX or any other civic with a decent rust free body.

A CX beats the heck out of a Ranger v8 for commuting! How much money are you saving?

I'll second the suggestion to get instrumentation -- it makes a huge difference in adjusting the nut behind the wheel. The kill switch is a good idea too.

Yeah it sure does. I bought a house in 2012, 10 miles from where i work, and before that I could ride my bike from spring til it snowed, and the truck sat anyways.

I had an ultra gauge in the truck and still could average 19-20 on the highway driving nice. But overall I'd see about 15-16 miles per gallon, and with the car averaging 45, thats 3 times the mileage, So I save quite a lot.

When I took the truck to get my car, It was a 3 hour drive there and 3 hours back towing the car on the dolly, I still averaged 16.5 with the truck.

I'm trying to plan out any modifications I do to be easily removed and installed on another vehicle, I really like Civics and I'll definitely buy another one in the future.

Welcome to the site. Sounds like you're well on your way to getting great mileage. Nice job already.
