Hello All

Hello,
I am new to Eco-Driving and willing try new things and techniques to improve my Eco Driving Skills. I have a 2003 Tata Indica Lsi and 2009 Chevy Spark with a factory fitted dual fuel option (Gasoline / LPG). Couple of days ago, I installed Scan Gauge II on Spark. I rarley drive on highway and my daily drive is through crowded city centers.
Cheers,
Prabhup

Welcome, Prabhup. City driving is a very difficult environment for eco-driving. You will probably attain your best mileage by trying to anticipate stops by coasting to them.

Weight reduction!!

  • In city driving, where you have to start and stop very often, every kg of weight hurts fuel economy much more than on the highway. Remove any extra stuff you don't need: rear seats, spare tire (both the one in the trunk, and the one around your waist;) ), toolbox, etc.
  • Second, switch to low rolling resistance tires if you can, or at least make sure the pressure in your tires is high. At city speeds, rolling resistance has a larger influence on fe compared to aero drag.
  • Third, maybe an engine kill switch would help you by turn the engine off at red lights.

Of course, using your bike and/or mass transport whenever possible saves the most fuel...
