What's Up?
I just got an 07 Civic Sedan to be my family car and decided to see how many mpg I can get out of it.
After reading a few tips on here, mostly about driving techniques, my first average came out to 39.1 mpg!
My tires are currently at 40psi but, after reading some more tips, I decided I'm going to inflate them to sidewall max. When these tires wear out I wanna' get 195/60-16 LRR tires and when its time to change my oil I'm going to use 0w-20.
I doubt I'll do much more than that to the Civic, of course that could change in a heartbeat because I love to tinker and I'm kinda' impulsive.
I also have an 05 Chevy Colorado that could definitely use some help so it'll probably end up on here sooner or later too.

The Colorado can do quite well if you do your part.

06 Canyon: The vacuum gauge plus wheel covers helped increase summer 2015 mileage to 38.5 MPG, while summer 2016 mileage was 38.6 MPG without the wheel covers. Drove 33,021 miles 2016-2018 at 35.00 MPG.
22 Maverick: Summer 2022 burned 62.74 gallons in 3145.1 miles for 50.1 MPG. Winter 2023-2024 - 2416.7 miles, 58.66 gallons for 41 MPG.

I've always found the Colorado/Canyon to be very attractive. The flared wheel arches look great, it really gives it an off road/aggressive look. Although FE (fuel economy) wise, it may just create more drag. But if you work on it, you can make a huge difference on your mileage with either, adjusting driving habits, OR modding your vehicles. And doing both, well, can get crazy results. It's a bit extreme in my opinion to try this on a real nice, new car, but check out the Aero Civic. That is a beast, whether thinking about FE or performance. |

Agreed. I want to keep both looking pretty normal. The Colorado's primary purpose is a farm truck so, I'm not extremely worried about it's fuel mileage. You can still get LRR tires in 265/75-15 though so, I'll probably do that when it's time to swap 'em. I'm thinkin one of those soft tonneau covers that roll up might be in order too. The Colorado does AWESOME off-road. Just thought I'd throw that in there for anyone that wants to know. I've come out from under some steep, muddy hills with big loads and a lot of times 4x4 isn't even necessary. And I've just got highway all season tires on it.

Welcome to the site.
I'd at least recommend a grill block. Even in Arizona I bet you can block off the entire top grill and be fine.

It's Winslow, Arkansas actually. I don't think we have it near as hot as Arizona; it did hit 118F last summer though. I would be nervous about blocking the grill. A lot of times I'm driving slow around the farm so the only real air flow would be what the fan is pulling in. I would like to do an e-fan conversion though.

Winslow, AZ is at 5000' elevation. It's never gotten THAT hot there.
