Hello to all :)

Hi everyone! Let me introduce myself. My name is Tihomir (in English my name would be Tim i guess :D ) and I live in Croatia, a small country in Europe. My friend showed me the forum and I can tell it's interesting, some cool stuff and I thought I should join the forum.
I drive a 2004. Opel Corsa 1.0 12v ECOTEC (also known as Vauxhall Corsa, Chevrolet Corsa etc.). It's a pretty good car but like all the 3 cylinder cars it's a :snail: But it does 5,5l / 100km combined driving (city and open road), that would be 42,7 MPG. So that's preety good for me, but I think it should do beeter :D No matter what I do, I can't get this car below than 5l / 100km (47,04 MPG). But that's a story for a another thread on the forum. So that's all I have to say about me, looking forward to meet the company on this forum. Cheers. (P.S. sory if I speak/write a little bad English)

Welcome to the site. Many of us would like to see more of those small engined cars over here. :)

Well I hope it will, because in my country fuel is getting more and more expensive, and having a car that does 5l/100 or less is getting a must have. So that's why I joined the forum to see if any tricks will help to get my car less than 5l

Make sure to read the 65 tips for better fuel economy posted by MetroMPG.

I learned how to drive in 2 Brazilian-made Chevrolet Corsa, one was a '98 4-door hatchback and the other one a '01 sedan (for the Corsa B the sedan bodystyle was only available for Latin America, Africa, Middle East, India and China), and both had the 60hp 4cyl 1.0L 8-valve engine. Since it had a worse torque than the 3cyl 12-valve European Corsa, it had to be mated to a lower differential ratio. Therefore 5.5L/100km became impossible here  I've already considered to privately-import an European driveline to retrofit into the '01 sedan before my parents got divorced and my mother kept the car for her.

And my grandma had a '05 4-door Corsa, also Brazilian-made and again with a 4cyl 1.0L, this time with 71hp due to the higher compression ratio, but the torque altough closer to the European 3cyl was still slightly lower :turtle:

Well that's interesting, I always thought that the 1.0 4cyl engine would be better than the 3cyl (stronger and better fuel consumption). Because as probably as you can see in my garage tourqe on my Corsa is only 88NM @ 3800rpm. And I can't imagine that the 4cyl version would have lower tourqe than this. But if you say so, it must be true. Also I have never seen a 1.0 8v Corsa in my Country, all the corsa-s with a 1.0 engine were 12v 3cyl models. My Corsa C has the latest 1.0 12v engine with twinport system, two O2 sensors but if you ask me 5,5l / 100 is to much for this engine, it must be possible to get it somehow lower. Because my friend in a Toyota Yaris 1.0 16v manages to make 4,5l / 100.

Welcome, your English is infinitely better than my Croatian.
