new guy

hi! im new! first, here's what i drive:

2006 Pontiac Wave 5dr (...aka aveo...). fuel consumption is within factory specs of 6L/100km highway and 8L/100km city. i employ simple tecniques so far, such as green-light timing, rabbit timing, slow accel and brake, commuting in an 80km/h zone as opposed to 100km/h zone.

Welcome to the site. Have you got fuel consumption instrumentation yet?

What part of the province are you in, if you don't mind me asking?

Welcome to EM! Do you know what your tranny gear ratios are? I am curious to know if you have a better "eco-tranny" than what you can get in the USA.

I'm a blue-dot fan myself :

lol Are you moderators required to stop in here every ten seconds?

Whatsup TBLB?

In the event you run into someone who is grumpy here. . .they had a low MPG tank. . .it happens to us all.

Not very often though! ^_^

Depending on what you use your car for and local temps deletes are usually the easiest thing to udnertake. For example, you live in Canada and I am not sure how hot it gets during the summer. Cracking or opening windows all the way is more FE friendly than AC. Mine broke so I ripped it out. . .I mean um, I did it to conserve FE ^_^.

No, get a ScanGauge. It'll be the best $150 you'll ever spend. It gives you a much more complete picture of what's going on under the hood, which is important if you decide to do something like a grille block (which you should do this winter). Welcome to the forum!

An alternative to the ScanGauge, if you only want fuel consumption info (or can't afford the SG), is the MPGuino. Requires a small amount of skill to install & calibrate.
