Hello all from VT

Hey all, purchased a new to me '98 Mazda b2500 last month, after I totaled my previous vehicle. Needing a new means of transportation put me in a financial hardship, so I bought a cheap set of wheels and am looking to save money everywhere. Think I found a forever home here with you guys. Always loved the scientific method, and crunching data. Not sure I will ever go all the way with visible aero mods (pretty sure I wont) but I am all about efficiencies elsewhere. I particularly like the idea of being hyper efficient while blending in with the crowd.

Hope to be an active member here, I have been lurking in all of the small pickup threads already.

Thanks for all the info you guys have provided me so far.

"Stealthy" aero mods...tonneau cover, belly pan, grill block.

Plenty of other mods in the "65+ Efficiency Mods" list that aren't visible.

Manual transmission?

Have fun!

Welcome

We might need a new term for a stealth modding. Is an undetected ecomodded car a ecosleeper?

Welcome; what's the etymology of 'bosstralia"? Is it pronounced like bozztraulya?

Here's a [modest] example of a stealth ecomod:

A bellmouth on the snorkel of a VW diesel.

Thanks for the replies, guys.

Oh yeah, I like ecosleeper. Although I am just starting to drastically change my driving habits and it is addicting to squeeze every last mile out of a tank of gas...

Name comes from playing risk as a kid (and an adult kid!) Hold Australia at all costs. Pronounced like Australia.

Welcome, fellow Vermonter!

Was it already a rebadged Ranger by that model-year or is it still the same as the international model?

Yes, it is a ranger. 98-01 they were rebadged Rangers. But this gives me access to a LOT more info and used parts, and I still get to have a unique vehicle.

Ecky-

Wow, what a treat. I was just able to catch up on aerocivics history, I cannot believe such an iconic car is so close to me while I begin my journey. Thank you for all the work you are doing to that car. Can’t wait to see it bombing down I-89.

Of course this will be much valuable while looking for fuel-efficiency improvements too.
