Hello from Philippines

Hey guys I'm leo from the Philippines where its a never ending traffic jam!

My car is a stock Suzuki Celerio and I just want to minimize my carbon footprint and maximize fuel economy.

Cheers!

My understanding is that traffic is pretty much all very low speed in the Philippines? This would be a great application for an EV, especially with all the traffic jams, as an EV sitting still is just sitting still, whereas a gas engine is wasting tons of energy idling.

I'm not sure if the infrastructure is there for EVs, but if so it would be worth considering.

Oh you would be surprised. Local politicians own shares in the petroleum industry. They're blocking EVs or allow them (with a huge tax, almost doubling their prices).

You'd also be lucky hitting 60km/h on the highways here. 20-30km/h would be your average speed on a normal bustling day.

That's what I figured in terms of speed. Too bad to see that cronyism rules over there as well as in the states.

Maybe a plug in hybrid could be an option or install kill switch for traffic jams

Welcome to the fun, Leo!

Stealth EV upgrade, or at least a kill switch.

Belated welcome, leoblack9!

What year is your Celerio? 1.0L triple with a manual transmission?

That car showed up in a number of comparisons against the Mitsubishi Mirage in various countries. If I'm not mistaken, it's cheaper and has a slightly better fuel economy rating than the 1.2L Mirage.
