Hello from Brad Perth Australia

I have registered after being notified that this is the new forum. It looks really cool. From advice from the Yahoo group I took off my cars sunvisor and blocked the air inlets at the front and got around 5% improvement at 100Km/h. I am still recording fuel use/distance travelled. Am watching the temperature gauge closely over this summer to see if the radiator requires more cooling air. So far so good.

Cheers
Brad

Hi, Brad. The sun visor you removed - was this mounted outside the car?

Welcome to the site!

Welcome from me as well.
Always good to see another Aussie here.
I hope the fires in WA are not anywhere near you.
Temps here are hot as well 41 C (about 105 F) today with more hotness on the way.

Pete.

Brad's Ford Falcon Station wagon

I drive a 1993 Ford Station Wagon.4.0 Litre 6 cylinder motor.
The motor is standard ex factory with no mods
I blanked the air intakes and took off the externally fitted sunvisor from the windscreen. Both these actions have given me an average 5% gain in fuel economy. On a long country drive eg 400km round trip the improvement in fuel economy is about 10%.

I want to trade to a smaller engined vehicle, but do not want to lose too much cargo carrying capacity. Any ideas from anyone who had done the downsizing exercise?

Cheers
Brad
